Edmonds Community College received a $592,240 grant from the National Science Foundation to provide scholarships and support to students studying science, technology, engineering, and math.

The grant will support 45 low income, educationally talented, and disadvantaged students in their math and science studies. Students will receive a $5,000 scholarship each year while they complete their degree.

Washington State Opportunity Scholarship

WSOS will award 3,000 scholarships to low- and medium-income students interested in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) fields.

The application for the 2013-2014 academic year is not available at this time.  We expect this information to be available during the fall of 2012. Complete application eligibility and timeline will be posted as soon as it is known. High school seniors through college seniors who plan to attend colleges and universities in Washington State for the entire 2013-14 academic year are eligible to apply. The WSOS application is very simple -- no essay required, no letters of recommendation. WSOS is open to both high school seniors and current college students.

 To be eligible, applicants must be Washington residents and U.S. citizens planning to major in a specified high-demand program of study (including science, mathematics, technology, health care or engineering) at an eligible Washington State college or university, have a GPA of at least 2.75, and have a family income within the specified guidelines

Association for Women in Computing Scholarship

Each year, AWC/PS offers $1000 scholarships to two women enrolled in an Information Technology program in a Puget Sound area college. In addition, a one-year membership to AWC/PS is also included for both recipients.

 To be eligible, applicants must:

  1. be currently a full-time student and re-enrolling for the summer or fall 2013 quarters. A full-time student is defined as taking 12 credits or more per quarter as an undergraduate; or taking six or more credits per quarter as a graduate student.
  2. be enrolled in a computer-related degree program. Presently completing or already completed 15 credits in the program.
  3. have a current grade point average of 3.0 or above.
  4. attend the AWC dinner meeting in June 2013 to receive the scholarship.

Presents: The Online Games Scholarship Contest

The $1000 scholarship will be awarded to one qualifying student with the most thought-provoking and well-reasoned essay as judged by a panel of Big Fish staff members. Select one of the two topics listed below, then write a responsive essay, 500 word minimum.  Writing more than the minimum requirement does not necessarily increase your chances! Submit your essay by May 31st, 2013 before 5 p.m. PST. Contestants will be evaluated on the quality and clarity of the ideas presented in their essay.

  1. How do you see the casual games industry changing in 2013 and beyond?
  2. What game genre has the most potential on mobile platforms moving forward and why?
